Borne of a longing to visit the famous playground of Monet, ‘Dreaming of Giverny’ (After Monet) oozes an atmosphere befitting of the legend. The work evolved from abstraction, where colour and movement suggested I feature the distinguishable bridge of Giverny, in a watery palette that echoes that of the great Impressionist. Responding intuitively to the developing work, I included blooms, some disproportionately gigantic, that I envisage would fill the garden, and naturally, of course, some of those famous waterlilies.
