Limited Edition – 100 only
Still Life may seem like a break from my Urban Landscapes that I’m known for but it is while on my local walks that I pick verge flowers. Wattle flowers are so delicate and their colour so bold. Freeflowing bowers weighed down with the lightest of flowers. Wild in form, they are easily overlooked when not in flower. On mass they are simply spectacular but their flowers are fleeting when cut. I wanted to capture their beauty. The centrepiece is a nod to all things Australiana, that I love. The wattle spilling from the bowl adds to the whimsy. My grandparent’s homes were filled with such pieces. Everything from spoon handles, vases, furniture and china cabinets featured their love of Australian flora and fauna. Three of my four Grandparents were born in Queensland between 1899-1907 and they lived their lives in Queenslanders and cottages dotted around the State.
Centrepiece purchased with a Still Life of wattle in mind.
