Burrawarra Bond

Description

The Original is quite large being a 101x76cm stretched canvas. As always I created some texture into the undercoat of gesso and then created the background using acrylics to create a very loose image depicting the curious cattle behind. I then sealed this and began to create the foreground of the horse,farmer and his faithful dogs having a moment after a job well done.

I was trying to create a 3D type of effect and I must say I'm very happy with it . I like the way the focus of the painting really is the bond within this team on Burrawarra station. My thanks always to Dawsonriver Kelpies for the reference material. The dog under the horse ended up having about 33 different faces during the creation…Ha Ha ..but happy with his expression looking up toward the horse.
