The melodious song of butcher birds awakening a new day. Have you ever noticed that butcher birds put their whole bodies into their song? They throw their heads back, beak to the sky, puff out their chest and release a beautiful string of notes. Then they duck their head right down below their toes, and up again, all the while singing beautiful music to awaken the day. They also seem to love to sing when it rains, finding a sheltered position and singing while they wait out the rain. I have endeavoured to capture these aspects of the butcher birds chorus with the colours and patterns in this abstracted piece.
