Description
Open Edition Reproduction
Living in a basic highset Queenslander home, resides John the Fly-in Fly-out mine worker. Looking for privacy as he rests on his days off – closed louvers providing the privacy he likes as he unwinds from long shifts on the mine site.
John rests a lot when he returns home from his 3 weeks of 12 hour shifts on the mine site, but once he has recuperated he enjoys opening the louvers on his highset covered deck and inviting his mates over for a drink and laugh. This Cottage overlooks a quiet rural town with sweeping valleys and a trickling river which can be heard from the verandah. Palms sway in the breeze and the birds gather around the seed pods that have fallen on the ground. A piece of heaven to be enjoyed, until the mine whistle beckons John back to work for another long set of shifts.
