If you wanted to see how it feels to be dizzy, just look at this painting.
For those who suffer with any form of dizziness know how debilitating it is. I know first hand as I had undiagnosed swaying for nearly 10 years and no one understood what I was going through. I was so frustrated with the constant bobbing and swaying like I was on a boat that I created this painting. I had CT scans, X-rays and MRI scans but no one could find anything that was causing my symptoms. They all said it was just stress. Finally an ENT specialist advised me that I suffer from MdDS (Mal de Debarquement Syndrome). I was unaware that the four cruises I had been on over the years were making my symptoms worse and extending the swaying. Now that I had a diagnosis I could start trying to get help but nothing changed the swaying. Over the years my symptoms faded and now I only suffer swaying for a couple of days after long plane flights or car trips.
This artwork shows the inner ear which is what I thought was causing my dizziness symptoms. I have painted the water on the bottom as it felt like I was always walking on a ship with the constant bobbing and swaying and the swoosh of my head as I made sudden movements while standing still.
It shows how it feels to suffer from dizziness.
This artwork would go well in any specialist clinic who works with MdDS to show their patients they understand how it feels.
