An old gondolier looking across the Grand Canal from Dosodoro to San Marco and the Gritti Hotel.
The Gritti occupies the Palazzo Pisani, which dates from 1475, later the residence of Doge Andrea Gritti and is classic Venetian Gothic in style. The site has been a luxury Hotel from the early 1800s and is today perhaps one of the great Venetian hotels, along with the Aman, the Bauer the Cipriani and the Danieli.
It occupies a prime Grand Canal site in southern San Marco, opposite the Salute and has a dining balcony overlooking the main stretch of the canal.
