Breakthrough to Freedom is a deeply personal prophetic painting, however, it contains some universal truths that may enlighten a complex pathway for someone, so I am including this work in this collection.

As I painted I ‘saw’ a dark forest with glowing lights in the far distance. It was as though the sun was rising and the day was still in shadows, but I had difficulty seeing how to get from where I was standing to where the light was. There was no sense of chaos, just a lull, and a time of waiting.

Everyone is on a journey. Sometimes, before we find direction and can interpret our circumstances, we need to reinvent not only who we are but also who we’d like to become. Sometimes people and circumstances try to force us to follow a path that we do not want to take. The trees and foliage in this painting represent the people most constant in our lives who stand beside us supportively, but they cannot walk the path for us. We need to understand that it is okay to see things differently.

A creative mind will embrace unconventionality and it isn’t always accepted or understood, but it can be a superpower – to be unconcerned about how something “should” be – and we go confidently forward with our own innovations and inventions.

The lone figure in this darkness is inside an upturned glass dome that is cracking and breaking from its foundations. Glass is significant because it can mean the barrier is unseen. Sometimes we can make decisions without full information. When the glass breaks we leave the pieces behind, and what was invisible becomes evident and tangible.

The figure in this landscape is looking across to the destination but not in the direction of the path to reach it. There is a sense that something “needs to break” to turn around and see the path clearly. The light on the path shines white and orange – these colours represent purity and intimacy with deep spiritual knowledge – and gold represents glory and freedom.

The painting symbolises the mysterious and unique path to personal freedom.
