After a lifetime of always having some creative project on the go, I finally discovered painting when I retired from a professional life in medical imaging. With a background like that where attention to detail is important it is no surprise that my paintings gravitate towards detailed, almost photorealistic renditions of my subjects.
I love capturing the detail in the veins of a leaf or the shadows on the curve of a petal. Painting flowers gives me time with images of beautiful blooms that are so transient in reality. And, given that I love being in the studio, it is a good thing that my subtropical garden is happy to survive on neglect. Lots of green in the garden but, for flowers, there is the studio.
