My introduction to the world of becoming an Artist started in March 2023, when I enrolled in a series of 4 oil classes. After 3 classes, I had painted an orange and a banana in oils. Hurrah! I had learnt about the colour wheel, how to create colours, the importance of underpainting and shadows and the astonishing – yet obvious information – not everybody will paint the objects they see in the same way!
Thus, my artistic journey began.
In a relatively short period, my need to paint had been well established and a 2 month trip throughout Europe in 2023 opened my eyes to the delights of European landscapes and in particular the glorious night time skies.
Painting from my Century old Colonial in Bulimba, I am constantly inspired by the tropical gardens we have planted; the riot of colour in the vegetable gardens and the sunlit pool surrounded by rocks and swaying bamboo and palm fronds.
My paintings often take a micro view – a particular leaf bathed in sunlight on a wooden fence, lemons dripping in goodness from the backyard tree, a single flower or a crystal glass shimmering with vivid anticipation.
I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I do creating them for you.
