A pair of red-rumped parrots are revealed between the long needle like casuarina leaves in the Australian bush. This pair was sitting surprisingly quietly for parrots, and with the male’s red-rump concealed they were reasonably well hidden. However, they did not escape my notice while exploring along the banks of the Murray River. These parrots seem quite reserved compared to many other parrot species, and when not foraging for seed on the ground, they seem to have a preference for sitting quietly, high in a casuarina tree hidden amongst a curtain of long needle like leaves. I have spotted them like this on several occasions in different places.
