Some 350 million years ago, much of eastern Australia lay under the sea (a prehistoric sea), including the yet to be formed Scenic Rim, Clarence River and Border Ranges. There existed a chain of volcanoes, a shallow continental shelf, a continental slope, deep sea plains and many tsunamis shown a deep sea fans.
