I am a great fan of Australian Impressionist Arthur Streeton, and for this painting I appropriated his incredible purple sky and paired it with a scene from the head of the Condamine River, wihich eventually flows into the Murray Darlling system. Australian colours are so different from the rest of the world, and I believe both Arther and I got it right. I have developed a whole new way of layering paint to work with our landscape, and it is very, very exciting.
