The tiny, pretty plants colloquially called Christmas bells are endangered, but here thoroughly celebrated in a riot of reds and greens, traditionally the colours of Christmas. The spectacularly surprising native flowers of Australia never fail to astonish. Here we have a selection of some of our smaller blossoms, vying for our attention in a bouquet of traditionally Yuletide colours. Painted using my trademark textured and transparent style, I love how many nooks and crannies there are for the eye to explore. A sense of movement inhabits this painting, the marks of my brushes and knives writ large across the linen canvas.
