The more familiar I am with a river, the more time that I spend with it, the more I can see in it. I have drawn and made prints of the Condamine River several times, some from this spot and others from the mountains upstream towards the river head. Sitting by a river is a calming experience; the more familiar I am with a river, the more I see in it. It is in a constant state of flux, sometimes calm, sometimes frenetic.

A river’s fortunes are reflected in the plant life along its banks. The breaking water through the cascades creates cool wet air that settles on the banks, encouraging plant growth right up to the water’s edge. It makes for rich colour palette of many greens.
