Xanthorrhoea australis, is also known as the Grass Tree, Southern Grass Tree, Austral Grass Tree or Blackboy. It is native to Australia and its trunk can grow up to several metres tall and is often branched. Considering the rate of growth which is about two and a half centimetres per year, we have some ancient and very majestic plants growing in our bushland. The flowers form on a spear-like spike which can be up to four meters in length.
