Limited Edition Reproduction of 30 Only
A fossil lakebed (Cretaceous) in Dorset. A Cretaceous lake bed in Dorset. Little acquatic creatures have bioturbated (burrowed) and gorged food from the lake floor muds.
Then a dry period reduced sediment inflow and the lake bed hardened with a cement forming at the water sediment interface. Other creatures then bored through the hardened lake floor. I struggled a little with getting a feeling for “burrowed” verses “bored”. Mud has such great stories to tell.
