Concerto, the amalgamation of the triptych, unites each element to compose a unique and exhilarating artwork. Reading from the left, Jazz introduces excitement – lively and spirited. In the centre Symphony unites the piece with its focal point: a singular centred ‘crying’ rose. To close, Rhapsody completes the Concerto with an ecstatic sense of enthusiasm.
Cox knows full well that the set was completely improvised yet feels it has been cohesively executed; she hopes that merged, the set create a concerto that, for the senses and the soul, uplifts and excites.
