The Brisbane River has long been called the Brown Snake because of its murky discolouration and due to urbanisation and dredging having a massive impact on tis hydrology, it is unlikely to ever return to a blue colour. Despite this, the river is beloved by Brisbane residents and this painting celebrates it’s brown tones with a thin meandering line travelling from the river estuary at Moreton Bay to the suburb of Fig Tree Pocket. Abstract in its arial presentation, thousands of small colourful dot-like brush strokes, embrace the brown snake as it is embraced by all who treasure it’s significance to Brisbane life.
