The Danieli Hotel is one of the five major hotels in Venice (with the Cipriani, bauer, Gritti, and Amah) and is located just to the east of the Doges' palace, with good views over the lower Grand Canal to the Salute church. The Hotel occupies the Palazzo Dandalo, famous for the DEOge who diverted the fourth crusade to sack Constantinople en route to the Holy Land. The four horses of St Mark's, dating back to Constantine were spoils of that incident, and later looted in turn by Napoleon.
