Painted in 2023 prior to a European holiday, this artwork is a collage of some items that I can see when I sit in my upstairs studio. Our little house cat Delilah loves to be close while I paint and so I decided it was time to incorporate her into an artwork. Gazing out the window is definitely her favourite pastime, making her little cacking noise at birds brave enough to fly past.
The Oriental vase, antique green glass full of dahlias, a trail of green and white leaves and of course the Guide Book to Italy all form part of this painting. The freshly blown out candle suggests the end of the day. So far, this is the only painting I have completed where I created four other paintings within it.
Sitting in our 122 year old Colonial, the vj wall and timber casement windows (where Delilah perches) are both classic features of the era.
