Description

Limited Edition Reproduction of 100 Only

I usually have little idea of how a painting is going to evolve before I start.

In this instance I had both the yellow and blue tin-toy robots and the female is inspired by 1940’s American pin-up art (which I've always had a soft-spot for). And when I put the yellow robot and the female together – I thought of them as a rather skewed Adam & Eve.

The fruit was from a bowl in the kitchen and the stones were from the garden. I’d used them before in another piece.

The kitchen bench top is speckled-black caesarstone and when I placed a granny-smith on the surface it caused a reflection which I found interesting. It proved the inspiration for this painting.

And my distant and rather vague childhood memories of the Old Testament parables of Adam & Eve, proved the inspiration for the title 'Forbidden Fruit.'

As for the elements and characters in the piece and how they relate, all I know is, Eve is holding the key!
