Feel the force and immerse yourself in nature! The second in a series of Playing with Colour.

I chose this magnificent Bottle Tree as my subject, as it is a favourite of mine. It’s growth has been influenced by the force of the Southerly wind which has created characteristics to be marvelled at.

Using acrylic paint on stretched linen, I let the joy of playing with paint and colour take me on a fun journey. My aim was to keep the Bottle Tree and the swaying foreground grass true and realistic, whilst creating a fluid background. The play of the background colours mimic the tussle and sway of the tree branches and foliage.  The colours I chose may be found in the early morning or late evening and lend a surreal atmospheric feeling.
