This species of gum gives a magnificent display of spiky flowers followed by the ‘chunky’ clusters of nuts which hold the seeds. These nuts are of the Swamp Bloodwood or Eucalyptus Ptychocarpa and are recognised all over the world as an image of Australian gums. They are wonderful to paint and their sculptural, almost ceramic quality, is enhanced by the crisp shadows in the strong sunlight.
