Always keen on history, I was exploring Hayward Street in Paddington to find a house once owned by my great uncle – No. 15, I think, and out of the picture. The yellow house with the flaming poinciana was far more interesting with its odd twisted brick chimney. Henry, the bush turkey, strolled out of the yard just at that minute. When I was noting how many jacarandas have been cut down on the crowded ridge behind and how many colourful houses were now white.

Ah well, at least Henry is still the same – long live he and his kids. (But not in my back yard)
