Limited Edition 250 only

The rider of this beautiful chestnut horse feels humbled by the military heritage that was his by birth, handed down and carried on for generations. As far and wide or as close as he looks within his family and his family history, he finds a heritage of honourable service to his country. His brothers; His nephews, his father; his uncles- both his father’s and his mother’s brothers; both of his grandfather’s and their brothers- his great uncles; his great grandfathers… They have served their country in times of both peace and war, and terrible were the losses and heartbreak to the family in those wars: the Boer War, World War I, Word War II, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, East Timor, Afghanistan, Iraq… all these conflicts have seen members of his family participating on behalf of their country. What a heritage!

How much do we owe our precious freedom to men, women and families such as these! Dearly though he wanted to carry on the family tradition in military service to his country, this was denied him. Four times he applied for enlistment in the Australian Defence Forces, and four times he was rejected on medical grounds. Feeling as though he had let the family tradition down, but wanting to honour his family and his country’s military heritage, he joined the Australian Light Horse Association, a non-profit organisation, whose aim is to preserve the history and tradition of the Australian Light Horse and its predecessors, and to share this heritage with the public.
