“June” is part of the 2018 Dance Calendar series produced from my original oil paintings. It is also features on the cover. I collaborated with Shilleena’s Dance Academy to hold a photo shoot of the dancers, whereby my husband and I took photos for reference for my series of 12 oil paintings, one for each of the calendar months. I chose this one for the cover because of the innocent expression of the ballerina as she looks ahead at what is before her. She is open to new beginnings. This is also reflected in the freshness of her opalescent sequined tutu.
