Some trees make us feel good. The Jacaranda tree outside my studio does it to me. I like to consider the delicate form of individual flowers and the power of their colour en masse. I enjoy the carpet of subtle purple on the lawn after a rain shower, the noise of bird song among the branches as they feed, the way the intensity of the colour creates a tone tone of the air around the tree; beautiful.
It is a joy more felt than understood but it is also a joy that can be shared; and that is wonderful. Jacaranda flowers are wonderful shapes to draw and beautiful colours to mix and paint.
