This is 2020, Hinemoa is following Tumanako footsteps coming into Auckland from Rotorua and onto Waitangi to where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840. Since Tumanako’s time, New Zealand has grown into a diversified, generally happy community of South Pacific, Maori, Asian and Caucasian people.

It has become a socially and financially successful country over this period.

“Our People’s Future” is for the progress of the population since Tumanako’s time in the formation of the “one” people of NZ Hinemoa is seen here walking into Auckland with One Tree Hill (Maungakiekie) and the city tower and buildings through the early morning mist on her left and Rangitoto on her right.

Being a bright young Miss, she is wearing her modern day cloak made from the usual flax but died and set to a fashionable significance. She is surrounded by her ceremonial dancing piupiu (skirt), travel and shopping! Kete’s (bags).
