Representing the resilience, regrowth, regeneration, and healing after the tragic bushfires in February 2020. This was painted in stages to go on a cycling jersey to raise money for the rehabilitation of wildlife following the devastating bushfires of February 2020. The first stage represented the fires and damaged bush (appears on the back of the jersey) with striking reds, blacks and oranges contrasting against the bright blue sky which signifies hope. Despite the damage, the kookaburras seem to be laughing in the face of it, evoking the Aussie spirit in hard times. In the second stage I added the bright and vibrant greens of new growth to represent the regeneration and healing (appears on the front of the jersey).
