Limited Edition Reproduction of 30 Only
Mount Alford volcanics in the Scenic Rim. Once upon a time Australia bumped into Asia and Melanesia. A large mass of “sticky” magma erupted in south east Queensland. A second charge followed with a mix of “sticky” and “runny” lava. Then the “sticky” magma charged again, thrusting itself to the centre. Pressure was mounting, the Rhyolites wanted control (coloured yellow). These “sticky” lavas shot into volcanic necks, shafted existing rocks apart splitting them both horizontally and vertically and crashed down the sides of the volcanic mountain as broken rock and ash. It was the “Rhyolites Last Stand”. This was their moment of glory before the “runny” lavas mounted their challenge. But that’s another story.
