Description

Limited Edition Reproduction – 100 only

This is part of a diptych composed around a road through the Granite Belt in Southern Queensland, Australia. The road winds between the two prints, simultaneously dividing and unifying them both. The granite boulders provide interesting compositional shapes. The colour palette used is much lighter and the greens more muted than those used tropical rainforest works.

Unlike rainforest closer to the coast, the forests of the Granite Belt have to contend with greater extremes in temperature, it is dryer and the rainfall less predictable. There is a strength and tenacity present in the plants of this place. This region is a reminder that life that best adapts to constant change and can compromise to accommodate the needs of the lifeforms around it, survives and often takes on interesting unexpected character and form.
