Tumbled layers of stone give support to tenacious, delicate tree life at Running Creek, South East Queensland.
Working with layer upon layer of deliciously transparent colour to describe this creek bank seems apt, when I know that the eroded forms of these boulders are created by the action over time of flooding rains – layer after layer of transparent water wearing away the stone to reveal pitted surfaces, rich with lichen and moss. The tree clings on through it all, testament to stubborn resilience.
