Description

Limited Edition Reproduction of 100 Only

From 117 to 113 million years ago the “Rifts “ subsided below sea level, possibly up to 1,000 metres below. However, the waters of the open oceans to the south and north were restricted from entering by land barriers or ridges. Only limited access created depressions full of  highly saline waters that were subject to extensive evaporation. Thick deposits of salt, up to 3 kilometres thick were deposited upon the sediments of the “Rifts”.
