Description
Limited Edition Reproduction of 100 Only
Fourth in a series of 5 showing evolution of the Scenic Rim, Clarence River and the Border Ranges and the opening of the Tasman Sea has split the Clarence River into two, east flowing Clarence and west flowing Condamine.
By 60 million years ago the Tasman Sea had begun to form between New Zealand and Australia. This caused the eastern edge of Australia to drop and the once upstream section of the prehistoric Clarence reversed its flow and headed east into the newly forming Tasman Sea. More of the granites were exposed and quartz sand from the granites began to form beaches from Yamba to Fraser Island.
