Description

Open Edition Reproduction
"Townsville Shines" is a painting that I created at school with all the paint that students had wasted and left behind to dry in the painting palettes. I wanted to show my students how amazing artworks can come from other peoples waste and that we should all be mindful of what we are wasting that goes into the environment.

I painted a scene from my hometown, Townsville with a fish-eye lens affect to show how our city shines. The scene was applied with palette knife and minimal brush work to give an expressionist appearance that was both fresh and interesting. This painting has resulted in students conserving their paints a little more in class and using their "dregs" to create their own interesting expressionist artworks.

The process video of this artwork can be seen here: "Townsville Shines Video"
