The spectacular pinks of the Tabebuia trees and the orchid pinks of the Tibouchina bushes on the corner of Elena Street and Latrobe Terrace were so striking, pink on pink, and the red veined leaves of the shrubs so beautifully defined they took my initial interest from the sunloving locals at Remi’s cafe on the other corner.

This painting is unusual in that I brought the flowering trees into the foreground and they dominate the people scene beyond. I was well pleased with it. The BCC used the image during the 2023 Brisbane Festival to screen digitally on the the wall of Empire Revival Antiques in Latrobe Terrace for several months.
