A Cormorant stretches and dries watersoaked wings on the mangrove bank of Wynnum Creek, Brisbane. Life abounds along Australia's coastline. A slow inspection reveals many wild denizens, even in suburban environments such as Wynnum, Queensland, Australia. I was captivated by the still reflections of both bird and tree, as this Cormorant eyed me suspiciously. Working with the tension between transparent (the shadows) and opaque (the water) colours is a great joy of mine – I never tire of developing new ways to encourage paint to have interesting conversations across my canvases.
